For some people, significant weight-gain can be a hard problem to solve.

Kea Hangsovann, a doctor from SV Clinic and Laser, explained the recommended method to calculate your weight properly, in order to know if you are overweight.
To calculate Body Mass Index (BMI), first you need to establish your weight in kilograms (e.g. 56.25 kg). Step two is to record your height in centimeters and then square the answer (e.g. 1.575m x 1.575m = 2.480625). Last, divide the kilos by the result from Step 2. In this example the result would be 22.7 (rounded).
Then compare the results with the standard. A BMI under 18.5 means too thin; 18.5 to 24.9 is normal; 25 to 29.9 indicates fat; and over 30 means too fat.
Meng Soksean, medical consultant for Praram 9 Hospitals Thailand, suggested that regular exercise is the best remedy if you think you are too fat.
“For woman, cardio and aerobic exercises are the best choice. For the beginner, you should do it at least 20 to 30 minutes per day, three days per week. Then you need to increase the duration to 90 minutes gradually during the first month,” he said.
“For men, aerobic and weight bearing exercises like workouts are the best. For the beginner, you can do similar to what the women do,” he added.
He said that by doing these kinds of exercise regularly, you will see good results in three months.

Mr. Soksean added that the best times for doing any kind of exercise is after sunrise in the morning and at sunset. This kind of weight loss program requires a strong commitment if you want to succeed.
Despite this being a proven strategy for weight-loss, many people don’t like exercise programs, especially those who are in busy careers.

“We observe that taking weight loss pills is an easy method to get weight loss and has highly effective results. But if you choose the wrong pills and are using without a doctor’s prescription, it can affect your health. So please consult with a doctor before using it,” said Mr. Hangsovann.
He added that with modern technology, people who are overweight shouldn’t put too much pressure on themselves. Today, they can not only lose weight easily, but can also target specific parts of their bodies such as under-neck fat, waists, bellies, hands and pelvic areas.
